Art, Heart and Healing……

So earlier this week my Bloggy friend Carmen gently persuaded (read Bullied) me into joining an online art course! This idea initially filled me with dread and fear as, well, I can’t draw very well! I would give anything to be able to draw well….but I can’t 😛 It usually ends up with me scribbling over my page in frustration……and yes I do realise this is rather childish 😛 Anyway back to my story!! I had never thought to take an online course in art before….I assumed they would be waaaaay expensive! But this one, my friends, is free F R E E!! “Oh go on then, I’ll give it a go” I said nervously!!

This is the site with the course on! There are paid ones too but I thought I would ease myself in haha! Plus F R E E…come on you just can’t go wrong!! I spent a couple of days gathering my materials…..I have most of them from previous art attempts…….the less said about those the better haha!!

You get PDF files with little step by step instructions and some tips…I have to admit I was a little daunted at first…..I’ve tried art books before but they really don’t work for me!! But, joy of joys, the lovely lady makes videos for you to follow too!! You can download them but I just watched them online! they are easy to follow and obviously you can pause and rewind as and when you need to! The course is about healing. I don’t know how well it works but I’m actually very interested in it! I did Psychology in Uni and really wanted to get into art therapy (turns out you need a fine art degree more than a psychology one DUR CAROL!!)!

I won’t ramble on too much but you basically have to write down negative thoughts you have about yourself and then try to think of the positive intentions behind them! It can be difficult if you’re not into this sort of thing but its worth a try! You write down your positive intentions and then cover the negative messages up…then its on with the art!

 

My first attempt at Art!!

 

Well anyway here is my first attempt at anything arty in aaaagggeeeesss! I have to be honest I’m not so good at the grunge thing 😛 As you can probably tell from my neatly ordered background with a few splashes on in a desperate attempt to make it look “Grungey”!! I am most definitely going to have to work on that bit of it haha! So lets just ignore that and move on to my representation of me 🙂 I have to say I’m quite pleased with it, well ok reasonably pleased with it!! I am trying very hard not to be negative about it! What do you guys think??

The words next to the portrait are what I got from the positive intentions behind the negative things you tell yourself! Does that make sense? It does when you follow the course, trust me! So I highly recommend this course…I can’t wait to start the next lesson!!

Back to basics!

I haven’t read a book in ages!! Ok so that isn’t strictly true…i’ve read How to crochet books and how to sew books and David Attenborough books and even a Mythbusters book…..but not like a story book!! So I decided this morning to pull out my fave ever read and start it again!!

 

I love this book!

 

I first bought this book because its set in Barcelona (I would live in Barcelona if It was possible!!), I pretty much read any book that is set there 😛 But once I started reading I couldn’t put it down!! My boyfriend always jokes that i can’t read a book without there being a library and some mystery involved…..and to tell you the truth he is pretty much right haha!! I highly recommend this book to everyone!! I won’t go into detail of the story but you can find details Here!! I don’t really know how it was received, I don’t usually rad reviews etc!!

He also wrote The Angels Game which I of course had to buy!! I made the mistake of buying the big massive hard back copy which makes it slightly difficult to carry around with me…..but it looks sooooo good on my book shelf!!

The author intends these to books to be part of a four set series….so here I am sitting and waiting for the third one…I guess now I know what it must have been like for all those people who read Harry Potter from the beginning…….! Until the new book is out I will have to make do with these two gems again!! man I hope I don’t have too long to wait!!

Sometimes you just HAVE to buy something!

I am a total impulse shopper…sometimes this can work out well and other times I’m left thinking “Why on earth did I buy that?” 😛 It’s usually things I consider to be pretty…..the only problem is I probably will never use it but I can’t bear to part with it once I have it!!

 

Sparkly Pens...honest!!

 

So here is my first impulse buy of the week 😛 You can’t really tell in this photo but these cute little pens have Sparkly metallic ink in them!! I have absolutely no idea what I will use them for….probably just writing my shopping lists and stuff 😛 But hey at least they will get used!!

 

Coolest spoons ever!!

 

These bad boys are just too amazing for words……ah ok I can probably think of some words haha! I am soooo hoping that these actually work as measuring spoons…that would be the icing on the cake so to speak!! I will use them to make my Gingerbread men!! I have a little surprise up my sleeve for them so keep an eye out 😉

Ooo blue wool!

 

I love this colour! Its kinda minty kinda baby blue! I’m not too sure what I will do with it but it reminds me of summer and that is good!! Any ideas of what I could use it for?

 

Grass Green!

 

I’m not actually a huge fan of green but I LOVE this shade!! Makes me think of fields of grass…….you don’t get many/any fields by where I live haha!! Green lollipops might be a bit weird though right??

 

Sunshine Yellow

 

I think this is the fave of the colours! Iv got BIG and secret plans for this one!! Keeping my fingers crossed that all goes to plan!! Bringing a little colour to the dreary British weather!! Is there really any better sight than a tower of new wool?? No? No I didn’t think so 🙂

 

Yarn Tower!!

The last few days have not been eventful!! It was my first week back in work…..enough said haha! The early mornings are getting on my nerves, I hope I get used to them again soon!! I can’t wait for the weekend…I feel like I have a million and one things to do……If only i could stop time!!

 

Snow days are good days!

So I’m a little late with this as the snow cleared up from here weeks ago now…but I did only start my blog this week 😛 I wanted to share my photos of the snowy weather!! We don’t get good snowy weather round these parts too often so I am always very happy when it finally comes!!

This is me looking pretty happy coz it’s SNOWING!! If I had a snowboard I so would have used that hill behind me!! Anywho I hope you enjoy the pictures of the fab weather….i don’t care what people say SNOW ROCKS 😉

Lupin quite likes the snow!

Finally, this is Lupin in our backyard in the snow! She was a bit dubious at first but she seemed ok with it! haha bless her she isn’t allowed out too much (bad area for cats roaming the streets) so this was probably quite scary!

 

So that was snowy December in Liverpool! I’m one of the few people probably hoping for snow again haha!! I am a rare breed around here!!

Baking Day!

So today I made some cakes! Rocky Road with mini toasted marshmallows on top mmmmm YUM!  I only started baking quite recently so I’m pretty pleased with the result!  I got the recipe from the Good Food cakes and small bakes book!

The picture is a little blurred as I’m still trying to master the Manual Focus on my camara haha!! I don’t have a very steady hand at all!  The official name for these cakes is campfire Cup Cakes….i’ll be honest iv never been camping and iv never toasted marshmallows….so this was a first me 😛  I’ve just bought some cute new Muffin cases in multi colours which I’m looking forward to using……next up is LEOPARD print ones!!

Today I’m also working on some stuff to update my Etsy Shop (Snow Bunnys Knits)! I haven’t updated in forever with Christmas and the New Year but I’m back and I’m hoping to make a proper go of it!  I’ve only had 2 sales so it is a bit disheartening but I guess people don’t get were they are by just sitting back and having it all their own way!!  Fingers crossed I can come up with something so amazing that people just won’t be able to resist :-D.
