The long and winding road.

It’s been almost 2 years since I last posted on this Blog.  A lot has happened to little old me since I was last here.  So much that I couldn’t even begin to tell you all the details! But i’m back now, I’m back and things are going to be better than ever!

In 2011 my beloved Dad passed away.  I have written about this briefly before but for those of you who are new here he went in to hospital with a hernia and never came out again.  He had an operation to fix the hernia but due to a combination of things (his age, asthma and Emphasyma) he suddenly passed away whilst in the ICU a couple of hours after he came out of theater.  I felt like the bottom had fallen out of my world, My lovely, funny, clever Dad was gone.  But I carried on, I still had my Mum to look after and i was in the process of buying a house with my partner at the time.  I carried on as best i could and managed pretty well for about a year!

Then September 2012 happened.  Things between me and my partner didn’t work out.  I still don’t 100% know why but it hit me like a train.  Suddenly I had lost my Dad and my boyfriend, my lovely house and even my cat Lupin.  I had to move out of the house we shared and leave 10 years of our life together behind.  I cried a lot, I wished things were different but I carried on as best I could!

I found a new place to live (a house share with 3 other lovely people) and i settled in.  My wonderful freinds (RL and internet) rallied round and I was never left on my own for too long and they let me moan…and moan…….and mmmooaaaaannnn.  Despite the sadness I had fun and realised I had good people in my life.  I even met someone new…..

Then in April 2013 my Mum got sick.  She never told me how bad she was and I didn’t have any reason to think things were that bad.  One day she collapsed in town and had to stay in hospital.  She had all sorts of tests but she told me they were all ok.  She came out of hospital and i tried to see her as much as I could.  She had seemed to pick up but then one day i got a call.  Mum really wasn’t ok.  Eventually she had to go back in to hospital and it was then that I found out she had cancer and she wouldn’t be getting better.  I don’t know to this day if she knew and just kept it from me or if she was in denial. It wasn’t long before she began to deteriorate.  Eventually she couldn’t hang on anymore and then she was gone too.  I cried and I cried.  There were times when I felt like I had no one, that I was all alone.  But once again my wonderful friends rallied round to help as best they could.  My Auntie and uncle travelled from St Helen’s every day to help me with funeral arrangements and sorting through 30+ years of my mum and Dads life.  It was difficult and upsetting and for a while i was very very down.  It felt like there was a weight on top of me. But I carried on as best i could.

So it’s been almost a year since I lost my Mum and in July it will be 3 years since I lost my Dad.  I’ve sold their house and sorted all that stuff.  I’ve left my job that i’ve been in for 7 years in persuit of something different.  I’ve just come back from a lovely holiday in Barcelona with my new boyfriend and my friends and family are all still wonderful 🙂

I’m doing pretty good and things can only get better I hope!! So stick around, i’m planning on being here for a while!!!

A not very crafy post!

Hello one and all 🙂

I’ve mainly been working on knitting cardigan’s for my cousin’s little boy’s Teddy bears! I have no clue if that sentence is grammatically correct but you get the picture 😉 Anyway i’m almost done with them now! They just need to be sewn together and posted all the way to Switzerland!! I still haven’t quite finished the baby blanket but that’s because of a lot of fiddly sewing!!

I don’t know if any of you saw on the news about the Sea Odyssey spectacular that was in Liverpool a couple of weeks a go? It was based on a true story about the Titanic! It involved GIANT mechanical robot type things walking around Liverpool to music……..i realise how mad this makes me sound but I have proof…….

Can you see it? It probably doesn’t look that big yet……..

ImageThis bad boy is about 50ft tall!! You really don’t get a sense of how big it is until you see it in real life!! It walked for miles all around Liverpool! I only got to see a tiny bit of it as it walked past my street!! There was also a girl giant who was about 20ft tall and a dog too! The event ran over 3 days and the giants had beds to sleep in and everything! The man giant was trying to find the girl giant and in the end they did! They sailed off together!! The story is quite complicated but if you google Liverpool Sea Odysey I’m sure it will explain better than I can 😛

These photos are taken from my local park! I nearly didn’t go and see it but I’m glad I did now 🙂 It was nice to see something like this outside of the City Center!!

And here is a photo of a nice Blossom tree as the giant says good bye 🙂

Well that is all for now! I hope you are all doing well!!

I’ve gone Sugar Skull crazy!!

Once again my Friends this post will be fairly short!! I haven’t had much chance to craft recently but I do have a new project on the go!! It’s a practical project too which is always good!! 😛

I don’t know about all you lovely ladies out there, but I have a horrible time trying to store my necklaces!! If I have them in a jewellery box they seem to get tangled and broken 😦 I don’t know if this just happens to me but it happens all the time! So I thought to myself, how else can I store them?? The solution I have come up with is to hang them on a cork board and hang the cork board up on the wall……well it’s worth a try!!

I’ve had this cork board for a while but I couldn’t think for the life of me how to decorate it! I didn’t want it to just stay like that, that is just not me at all! In the end I decided to at least paint it white as this would make a good base coat!! Inspiration finally came the other day! Why not paint a Sugar skull design on to the cork board?? 😀 GENIUS!!

So that is my plan! I have no clue if this will even work but it’s worth a try! It looks good in my head, but most of my ideas look good in my head….most end up unfinished or going completely wrong :-p

In other news, I’ve almost finished the baby blanket YAY!! I have redesigned it slightly and I’m really pleased with the result! I will take pictures as soon as I can!!

I hope you are all doing well 🙂 Take Care!!

Knitting, painting, drawing, planting, cross stitching……..

Hello everyone 🙂

This may be the shortest post in the history of my posts 😛 I’ve been swamped in work and trying to fit in my millions of knitting projects (ok 3!) whilst also trying to draw and paint more, finish my lovely cross stitch and also sort out our backyard so we have a nice space for the summer!!

The knitting projects are going ok but slower than I had planned!! I’ve been trying to knit a bunny (photos to follow in the next post), I thought it would only take me a couple of days but I’ve still got its arms and ears to do……and don’t even start me on the face!! I have a baby blanket to complete but I still have a couple of months to do that so pphheeewwww!! Then my cousins boys are after clothes for their Teddy Bears! I’ve still got a cardigan to do……it took me ages to find one that would (hopefully) fit!!

The planting will be fun when we get going! So far we have bought Gladioli, lilies, red-hot pokers, dahlias and some other pretty flowers 🙂 Oh and I have some potatoes to put in the potato grow bag my mum got me!! My faves are the red-hot pokers.

Aren’t they lovely? I can#t wait until they grow!!I will be taking lots of photos of their progress 😀

So there we go! Take care and have a lovely week!!

Time for a change?

Hello my dears!

I’m sorry I’ve been away so long! We have had a lot of people off on holiday in work so I’ve been up to my eye balls in overtime! Then me and my partner decided to start decorating our house.  We bought it 6 months a go so I think it’s about time we did something! There will be photos to follow 🙂 It hasn’t been as easy as we though for various reasons but we will get there in the end! I have to admit I haven’t picked up my knitting needles in a while! I’m not sure what is up with me really! I will get back in to it this week though!!

Anyway this post is mainly to report on the fact that I’m thinking about opening a shop on Big Cartel.  I have no clue if this is a good idea but their starter package is free so it may be worth a try! You can only add 5 items and one picture of each item but considering the fact that I don’t seem to get that many sales I don’t see this being a problem!! Have any of you ever used Big cartel or have any opinions on it? I feel like I have to give it a try! Although I never expected Snow Bunnys Knits to be a huge success and a global brand I was hoping for better sales than I do have! I feel like I’m wasting my time but I REALLY want it to take off.  I suppose most people in my position go through this sort of thing……I’ll be honest though its starting to get me down a bit!

Oh and on the cross stitch front, I went with a smaller image…..mainly because I wanted it now and it was cheaper :-p I have very little patience in this sort of situation!!

This is the one I chose in the end! I CAN NOT wait for her to arrive from amazon!! I will deffo be posting update posts about this bad boy!! I can see this being a long-term project!

Anyway I hope you are all looking forward to the coming week! See you again soon!!
