Apple and Cinnemon muffins YUM

This is a very quick post today!! It is just to show you my efforts at baking recently!! It’s quite hard for me to bake as IΒ don’t like cakes so IΒ just have to cross my fingers and hope people like them haha!! I did make donut cakes but they were a disaster! They looked like mutants and the filling sank to the bottom! I decided to try my hand at a muffin! I went for Apple and Cinnamon even though I can not stand the smell of cinnamon πŸ˜›

They aren’t the most muffiny looking muffinsΒ but I was told they were nice haha!! I haven’t decided what to do next though…..something fruity maybe!!

Anyway that’s it for now, I hope you are all looking forward to the next week πŸ™‚

Debbie’s Cupcakes….mmmmmmmm!

*First of all I would like to thank everyone for their kind comments at this difficult time! Me and Mum are doing ok and just taking each day as it comes! I guess that is all we can do! Thanks again everyone!*

soooo if any of you are regular readers of my Blog you will know that from time to time I like share Links with you all πŸ™‚ well my dear friends, this is one of those times! You will also know that I do like a good cupcake (Jenny Rae’s Lil Cake Balls), so imagine my delight when my lovely pal Debbie told me she is starting her own business making CupCakes for any occasion!

Now her business is in the VERY early stages as she builds up her cupcake portfolio and website but I really think it is worth a little nosey! Spread the love so to speak πŸ˜‰ She has been on a course and has all her supplies ready! I know she has a Christening lined up and I’ve also placed an order for four cakes (as a little Thank You gift for someone)! Please check out her website, its soooooo cute! You can also follow her on Twitter (@Debs_Cupcakes) and like her on Facebook….go on you know you want to πŸ™‚

PRETTY!

I love this little flower!

Two Tone Butterfly, hand painted by Debbie!

These are just some of her practice cakes from the course she did! I must point out that she didn’t make the cake bases as they were mainly to practice the swirls πŸ˜› She did, however, hand paint the decorations and pipe the swirls!!

The cupcakes come in singles, 4’s, 6’s, 12’s, 24’s and Giant!! You also get a choice of wrapping (she is VERY good at ribbon bows….trust me!). She hasn’t perfected her combo’s just yet, but if you e-mail her then she is very willing to listen and give them a try! Debbie gives 100% to everything she does and I know her cupcakes are ACE!! Please help me spread the word and also have a little nosey yourself, you won’t be disappointed!!

So there you have it, check out the cupcakes and let me know what you think….even better let Debbie know!! I’m finally back on track with my knitting, well I say that, I’m actually just trying to sort out the custom scarf I was asked to d a while back!! I am also in the middle of moving house AGAIN!! This time is special though as we finally BOUGHT a house EEK! Bit scary πŸ˜› My brain is a little full with everything that is going on right now!!

Oh a quick question, I tried a bit of colour today…..how did that work? Should I just stick to the black?? let me know what you think!!

Enjoy your weekend everyone πŸ™‚

Guess the knitting…….

Hello hello πŸ™‚

So I’m trying my very best to update my Blog whilst at Mummy dearests…..its difficult for many reasons but I think im doing ok!

I’ve started some new knitting projects, sadly not for my little Etsy Shop as I can’t take decent piccies of the stuff at the moment! The lighting in Mum’s is pretty bad and I can’t find my camera charger or leads (this is making me very uneasy…i ALWAYS have my camera with me!!). Anyway, these projects are kind of personal ones but I’m hoping they will show what I can do…well thats the plan anyway πŸ˜‰

What could it be?

Again I must apologise for the bad photo…best I could do πŸ˜› Sooooo what do you guys think it will be? I don’t think it’s particularly obvious but you guys might get it!! I’m pretty pleased with how its going (yes I know it’s just a circle thing but trust me its going well :-p), I have to buy some bits and bobs to finish it off though! I’m not good at the whole finishing touch thing! I either don’t do enough or go waaaaaaaaay over the top!!

On a side note my Friend is trying to start a cake business.Β  I plan to Blog about it properly as soon as I get some pics and proper info from her, but in the mean time please check out her Facebook page “Baby Cakes”, also please feel free to add her as a Friend as she will be happy to answer any questions you have πŸ™‚

Thanks guys and have a good Sunday!!

I made Doughnut Cupcakes……..

“A Doughnut Cupcake?” I hear you cry “Why Yes” I cry back!! I decided to try something completely different and make super cool doughnut cupcakes! To be fair I had no clue they were super cool at the time but it turns out they are πŸ˜€

My Batter!

I was all set to type out the recipe for you guys but I’ve misplaced the book :-S I don’t know how this has happened as I don’t have a big kitchen…or even house πŸ˜› The general gist was to beat together butter, sugar, eggs, flour, milk and baking powder to make a nice smooth batter.Β  Fill up the cupcake/muffin cases two-thirds of the way and then add a blob of jam into the center!!

Jam Blobs!

I didn’t have Strawberry jam so I used raspberry!! The recipe is for 12 but I only have a 6 hole bun tin…..a bit annoying but better than the bun tin I had before….my muffin cases didn’t even fit in the damn thing πŸ˜› Anyway the next step was to cover the jam blob with a bit more of the batter then place in the over (I think it was gas mark 4) for 25 mins or untill golden brown!! You then melt some butter, cover you doughnut cupcakes with it and crush a sugar cube over it…I didn’t have a sugar cube so I just used normal sugar…it kind of dissolved a bit!! Retrospectively i should have expected that!!

Ta-da...finished doughnut cakes!!

And here they are….my finished doughnut cakes πŸ˜€ I took a few for my mum and dad but John ate the rest πŸ˜› I bake quite a bit but I’m not a huge fan of cakes so it’s usually up to John to eat them……..i think he thinks I’m trying to make him put weight on πŸ˜›

Me and John!

Someone said they like to see Pics of the people I Blog about so here is a pic of John…..he will kill me if he sees this so lets all keep it our little secret πŸ˜‰ It’s not a great picture but its the most recent one I have!! It’s from around my Birthday in December!! I really could do with a tan *cringe* πŸ˜› Even when i “tan” I don’t actually look like I’ve tanned! I am not made for the sun!!

Whilst out shopping with my Mum she treated me to a new Cupcake book (love my mum!!).Β  It’s The Humming Bird Bakery book.Β  I can’t wait to give some of them a go!! I’m going to be brave and try frosting…..like decorative frosting *gulp* I can’t see that ending well!!

The Hummingbird Bakery Cupcakes and Muffins!

I got this picture from good old Amazon!! I love Amazon! In fact I have a Β£16 gift voucher to spend there…..off i go for a little browse πŸ™‚ Woo!! I realise I haven’t really done much crafting Blogs recently…I’m hoping to change all that soon!! I’m a bit behind and I’m blaming work haha!! I have lots of projects in the pipeline….watch this space!!

Behold the Ninja Bread Men…..

No no you did hear me right, NINJA BREAD MEN!! I did a bit of baking the other day and finally got round to do my gingerbread men! As previously stated i’ve never actually managed to make a decent biscuit yet so I had everything crossed…..plus it was a great excuse to use my really cool measuring spoons that look like Russian Dolls!!

Baking Supplies!

So I’ve decided to type the recipe out in case anyone wants to use it. It’s from GoodFood 101 Cupcakes and small bakes which is a really good little book! I’m a complete beginner and I have no trouble at all following it!!

Double-ginger gingerbread men

140g/5oz unsalted butter

100g/4oz dark muscovado sugar

3 tbsp golden syrup

350g/12oz plain flour

1 tsp bicarbonate of soda

2 tsp ground ginger

1 tsp ground cinnamon

2 balls stem ginger from a jar, chopped

To decorate

50g/2oz icing sugar

a few undyed glace cherries, halved then thinly sliced

2 balls stem ginger, cut into small squares

1) Preheat oven to 200c fan/gas 6. Line baking sheets with baking parchment. Melt butter, sugar and syrup in a pan. Mix the dry ingredients in a bowl then stir in the butter mix and chopped ginger to make a stif-ish dough.

My stif-ish dough!

2) When cool, roll to about 5mm thick. stamp out gingerbread men, re-rolling the trimmings. Lift on tot he baking sheets and bake for about 12 mins or until golden brown. Cool for 10 mins, then lift on to wire cooling racks.

Cooling my gingerbread men!

3) To decorate, mix icing sugar with a few drops of water until thick and smooth. Spoon the icing into a food bag, snip off just the tiniest bit from one of the corners, then squeeze buttons, eyes and little smiles on to the gingerbread men. Stick on cherry smiles and ginger buttons.Β  leave to set. Will keep for up to one week in an air tight container.

This is where I went a little crazy with mine……… πŸ™‚

NINJA BREAD MEN!!!!

I got a set of cookie cutters a while back that cut your gingerbread in to the shapes of Ninja’s!! I am SO pleased with these little guys!! The icing bit was tedious though I’ll be honest πŸ˜› I used squeezy icing out of a tube coz I thought it would be easier……..but for some reason it wouldn’t squeeze out of the damn tube properly! I ended up with a very sore thumb and back ache πŸ˜› I don’t actually like Gingerbread so I have no clue how they taste…but really I don’t mind coz every time I look at them I smile a bit πŸ˜€

And to my Photoshop of the day………

It's all about the Gaussian Blur!

This is me and my pal Laura (at a Jimmy Eat World gig)! I tried to give us a dream like quality using Gaussian Blur…I kinda like the way it came out!! Softens my rough edges haha!!
